Return to Hockey Plan
Return to Hockey Plan
To our membership,
We are excited to announce our programming for the upcoming season. We would like to thank everyone for their patience in waiting for our program. Creating a program in today’s environment is a difficult task as it needs to satisfy all stakeholders involved: Hockey Canada, Ontario Hockey Federation, Northern Ontario Hockey Association and the City of North Bay. Although not perfect, our goal is to provide an opportunity to get our Trappers on the ice as soon as possible with minimal risk.
The Hockey environment is changing quickly. Our program has been created based on the rules as we know them today. This landscape could change quickly, and we may need to adapt as rules change.
We are offering 2 training blocks. The first training block will run from Oct 5th to Dec 20th. The 11 week program will be structured based on the rules as we know them today. The 2nd block will start in January. Hopefully, at that point, we will be back to a normal 5 on 5 program. Each block is exclusive of the other meaning you don’t need to participate in block #1 to participate in block #2. Each block will have a separate registration. The cost at this point is an approximation subject to registration numbers.
In this non traditional hockey format, we are allowed to sign players up in pods (bubbles). Players will be initially placed in pods based on their level of play from last season. You must have been registered in Hockey Canada last season to participate in block #1. If you are from an outside association and were not registered last season with NBMHA, you will be put on a waiting list and placed subject to availability. Depending on registration numbers, all groupings at all levels will be decided by NBMHA.
Registration will be opened on Friday September18th. The association has a deadline to commit to our non-refundable ice contract. It is important to register as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment. The association may have to return a portion of the ice contract and change our plan if the turn out is not as expected.

Coaching and Volunteer Interest
To coordinate a program of this nature, during these times, will take a great amount of work. We need your help!
We are looking coaches that are interested in helping with on ice sessions and/or running a bench for the games. Certifications are required for these positions. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Cory Fry at cory.fry@hotmail.com and indicate which level/division.
NBMHA Refund Policy
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, there is a chance our hockey season may not play out as planned. If the NBHMA program is shut down by the OHF/NOHA, Hockey Canada, Public health Unit, province of Ontario, City of North Bay, or any other governing body, refunds will be issued on a pro rated basis. Keep in mind that some fixed costs will not be able to be refunded.
Refunds will not be given to families who change their minds about playing hockey after they have stepped on the ice with NBMHA.
Refunds will not be given to families should guidelines from Hockey Canada or the OHF/NOHA change. For example, If the NOHA disallowed game play, we would alter our program to utilize the booked ice times.
